Artificial Grass Installation Process

  • The area needs to be excavated (or dug-out) to a level that is suitable to install artificial lawn in your Perth garden. Typically, courtyards and back yards need to be around 60-70mm below the surrounding edges. Front verges are as a matter of course, dug out to a minimum of 100mm. For large, accessible areas, a bobcat is used.
  • The area is then backfilled with a base material (metal dust, crusher dust etc.) and then dampened down to be compacted, levelled and a final finishing screed.

  • Synthetic Lawn is then installed on the firm flat base and joined where required, using fibreglass tape and outdoor adhesive.

  • Excess grass is then “cut in” against the surrounding edges so it fits perfectly.

  • The white silica sand is then spread on the grass and broomed in. The sand helps weigh the grass down and stands the fibres of the grass up to achieve the desired look. Synthetic Turf uses on average 10 kgs of sand to every square meter.

  • Maintaining your astro turf is relatively simple and if you adhere to the list of Do’s and Dont’s you will prolong the life of your grass for many years to come.
